Passion Conference

As many as 860 women were in attendance at this year’s Passion 2012 Conference, held in Green Pastures, the People Church (GP) at Galgorm, near Ballymena in County Antrim.

Speakers at this year’s event included internationally renowned evangelist, Donna Crouch, the executive pastor at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia, and Passion 2012’s organiser, GP’s Lorraine Wright.

This is the second year that the church has held the women-only gathering and Lorraine said afterwards that she felt it had gone “extremely well”:

“The feedback I’m getting from the girls is that they had an amazing weekend under Donna’s teaching,” added Lorraine. “Many of them have said how blessed they felt to be able to hear such inspirational messages and they were very excited about applying those truths to their everyday lives and loving the journey of just walking that out.”

The theme for Passion 2012 was ‘Warrior, Daughter, Princess’ and its designated charity was GP’s own Compassion Ministries. An element of the Compassion programme is the Freedom House, which will shortly provide secure, God-centred residential accommodation and assistance in the Ballymena area to women suffering from life-controlling issues such as eating disorders, drug addiction, self-harm and depression.

Lorraine Wright explained that the Passion event is aimed at “ordinary girls” who just need encouraged to walk in their destiny:

”What we often see is the world telling women that they’re not enough, they’re not pretty enough, not thin enough, not popular enough but what we say is that God is more than enough for anyone,” she explained. “We were looking for these girls to come away from their everyday lives and from those people that would tell them that they don’t have it in them and to realise that Gods plan and purpose is for everyone, them included.. We want to see these girls rising up and becoming what the world would never have believed that they could.”

And Lorraine has now revealed that the theme of Passion 2013 will be ‘Only You’:

“Many girls know that God has an assignment and a plan for all but they can’t quite grasp that God would or could use them, we need to understand and realize that we all have a part otoplay in the vision and purposes of God, no one is excluded, we are all in this together and we need each other to play their personal unique part,” she said. “God has a plan and a purpose that’s just for you, your name was on it before the foundation of the world and during Passion 2012 we’ll be hoping to help our girls to rise up into that promise.”

Lorraine hasn’t as yet confirmed who will be speaking at Passion 2013 but all will be revealed later on in the year.
