For the past few years, Ambassadors In Sport (AIS) have been privileged to partner with many churches around Northern Ireland in running Soccer Schools. One of these has been with Ballysally Presbyterian Church, located in the heart of the Ballysally housing estate in Coleraine where it is well placed to serve the local community.

Reverend John Coulter says ‘The AIS soccer school has been an important aspect of our evangelistic strategy for a number of years now. The week of activities built around football has provided us with significant bridge building opportunities into our local community. Our goal has been to initiate and develop relationships over a period of time with children, young people and adults which provide the context for a genuine and meaningful sharing of our lives and the gospel (1Thess 2:8). Our experience with AIS soccer schools has been very positive and beneficial for our work. They feed into an ongoing relational ministry and add to what we are doing. In one instance, the example of one of the AIS guys in walking away from a very bad tackle rather than jumping up to retaliate, made a lasting impression on those who were playing and watching. It was the hot topic of conversation for days afterwards and is still referred to months later. His example of faith in action matched the gospel message and confirmed to many people that Jesus  really does make a difference in everyday life.’

AIS Soccer Schools combine skills sessions, fun games, Bible times and a World Cup tournament ensuring a fun week for the kids and a chance for the Church to build relationships with whole families.
